Garden party wedding

April 26, 2010

Bunting! Sets a great atmosphere for a marquee wedding.

You can buy it from lots of stores like the white company, and laura ashley.

Or personalise your wedding day by making your own. Better still, delegate to a family member who is good with a sewing machine. Keep it simple, buy fabric that suits your colours and cut into triangles, then sew to ribbon/tape.

You can also get photos printed onto fabric and cut out the images to make fun bunting that guests can really enjoy as well as look pretty.

Wedding Tiara’s

April 19, 2010

For mothers of the bride and guests looking to match an outfit with a hat, http://www.edentiaras.co.uk will hand make fascinators to match most colours. This also means, you can guarantee no-one else will be wearing the same as you!

For brides, Caroline has a great selection of tiara’s, headbands, combs and clips to complete your bridal hair. If a tiara is not your thing then many of the designs are more like hairbands, but give you a touch of something special.
I love the thought of passing my tiara to my daughter for her wedding, or having it turned into a necklace. I have spoken to many brides who initially think no to a tiara, but in my experience when they see themselves in their dress it is always worth trying one on.

Wedding drinks

April 12, 2010

For a wedding in the summer the bride wanted something more than just champagne to offer guests.

There are lots of choices, (pimms, mojito’s, daiquiri’s, champagne cocktails)

For a simpler look you can just drop a frozen raspberry into each glass of champagne, an easy way to add a touch of interest to guests arrival drinks. Personally, i think you can’t beat a simple glass of pink champagne, with a selection of juices for the non drinkers.
Kids cocktails are also fun, if you are inviting children to the reception.

place settings

April 8, 2010

Just a quick idea, about funky, fun, individual name settings. I love the idea of having them printed in different colours and fonts. If you are really clever you could personalise them a bit, especially for children.
These are from http://www.notonthehighstreet.com, but you can easily make them yourself.

Wedding Venue

March 29, 2010

Whilst doing a venue search, we were reminded of this lovely venue in Westminster London.

http://www.onegreatgeorgestreet.com/

They are licensed for civil ceremonies, and can cater for up to 220 guests. It is a versatile stylish venue, right in the heart of the city.

Venue searches are a great way of involving a planner. We short list possibilities that meet your specific requirements. It saves you an awful lot of time and effort, and just leaves you the exciting job of visiting the final selection.

Wedding cake

March 22, 2010

Wedding cake is always hard to choose as there are so many options.

Many brides who are having a traditional english summer wedding are opting for a table of homemade cakes on cake stands. This acts as a lovely table of desserts and means you can choose all your favourites.

There is also the terrible job of having to taste test them all before you buy, so i suggest starting now.

Supermarkets are a brilliant starting point, the cakes below are all by waitrosedeliver.com, and taste as good as they look.

For a wedding this summer , a bride i am working with is asking all their family and friends who enjoy baking to bring along cakes to add to the table. I would also suggest picking up a bargain at auctions for cake stands and side plates. You can buy lovely mix and match china at great prices and you get to keep it after for future garden parties.

Wedding trends 2010

March 15, 2010

Wedding trends for 2010!

These ideas are chic, retro, cost effective and environmentally friendly.

  • Book a taxi for wedding transport ( black cab is great)
  • Don’t print order of service, use traditional hymn books for the service. They are wonderfully chabby chic, and people don’t really need to be told everything about the service.

  • Book a great street busker to play whilst you have reception drinks. I would have other entertainment for the evening, but if you find someone you like they are usually more than happy for a booking and a great talking point.
  • Don’t try to get everything matching for the reception, chair covers are very over done. If you are having a marquee wedding hire simple wooden chairs and decorate with cushions instead. You can even get granny to make them very cheaply to suit your colours and give them to guests at the end.

We have loads more tips, so please get in touch if we can help further.

Wedding cars

March 11, 2010

This proved such a popular topic, that i have to just tell you about  www.maseratiweddinghire.co.uk

Give them a call they are very reasonably priced and easy to deal with.

Wedding bouquet

March 7, 2010

A simple way to personalise your day, with your flowers.

The brides bouquet can be made with 2 special flowers placed loosely into the arrangement. These 2 flowers can be taken out of the bouquet and handed to both mothers or special guests.

This is a lovely surprise for the mums, and can be a very touching, memorable moment. It can done when the bride arrives at the altar just before the ceremony starts, or as they leave the ceremony facing the rest of the guests.

Small touches like this are not expensive, but mean a lot to everyone. Simple ideas like this are the kinds of things wedding planners can suggest.

Give us an email if you want to ask us for some free advice, on any wedding topic.

Wedding Venue

February 28, 2010

Just before valentines day i was contacted by ‘The Independent’ newspaper, who were doing a story about the reduction in numbers of people marrying in churches/registry offices.

I think it is just a case of more options for ceremonies now, with the increase in venues achieving licences for weddings.

Couples now want to make a weekend of it, and be able to celebrate with friends and family under on roof from friday till sunday.

Warren house in Kingston,London (above), is a perfect venue for a weekend long celebration. You can hire the whole venue, including a licenced room for the wedding. The service, food, gardens, pool and bedrooms are all great. I would really recommend it, and they have always been very efficient with their replies and ameanable with the choices they are prepared to offer.
